How Social Security Checks get fundings?

The whole system of social security checks is a kind of social program which gets funded through taxes on salary under Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA). In simple terms, when you work, you pay payroll taxes along with the employer which is then stored under various trust fund investments and based on that, you get credits every year. These credits are then used for determining Social Security Checks. It also receives fundings from taxes paid on social security benefits.

Keep in mind, that this is not a savings account. The tax you pay today helps the beneficiaries. So, when you will retire, your benefit amount will be the taxes paid by the future workers.
