Demo Description(s):
As part of the NSF-funded OptIPuter project, UIC Electronic Visualization Laboratory has developed SAGE, the Scalable Adaptive Graphics Environment, that manages "windows" on tiled displays, enabling users to manage and display data and streaming media from a variety of data sources. "Visual casting" is a type of multicasting, but at the application level using SAGE. SAGE is capable of sending HD video and/or data/animations to a central "SAGE Bridge" cluster that reformats SAGE windows for variable-sized tiled displays and sends to multiple sites. For SC|06, we are planning on sending to up to 4 sites at one time. We will be sending data to multiple SC|06 research booths via SCInet, but have had requests from sites in Chicago and Beijing to include them as well.
