Steve Midgley
Education Director, National Broadband Plan,
Federal Communications Commission:
Steve Midgley served as Director of Education for the National Broadband Plan run by the FCC from August 2009 to March 2010. In that role he led the development of a national strategy for making use of broadband infrastructure to improve educational outcomes, with findings and recommendations published in the National Broadband Plan and sent to Congress in mid-March. He also coordinated with the U.S. Department of Education's National Education Technology Plan.
Prior to his work at the FCC, he was the principal of Mixrun, a technology consulting firm. Mixrun projects include working with the California Department of Education on a project called Brokers of Expertise, which uses on-line and real world systems to share and build the expertise of educators. Steve previously served as a Program Manager for the Stupski Foundation designing and implementing grants for data and technology in K-12 education. He was also the founding Vice President of Engineering and Software Architect for LoopNet Inc., now a publicly traded commercial real estate technology company.

Lori Sorenson
Chief Operating Officer, Department of Central Management Services, Bureau of Communications and Computer Services, State of Illinois
Lori Sorenson currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for Central Management Services, Bureau of Communications and Computer Services. In this capacity, she is responsible managing the front end customer service operations for the State's telecommunications and IT services as well as the strategic operations of the Illinois Century Network.
Lori has over 10 years experience in the telecommunications and IT industry. She began her career with the state specializing in videoconferencing services. She has been involved in the development and implementation of several statewide telecommunications services including the Illinois Wireless Information Network (IWIN) and the Illinois Century Network (ICN).
She has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Illinois Springfield and a Bachelors of Science degree from Illinois State University.
